Patio table umbrella hole caps plugs or rings
| | | parts | Comments closed

Many patio tables have a hole in the center of them through which a patio umbrella is placed to provide shade for those seated around the table. When an umbrella isn’t being used with the table (perhaps during the winter season) it can be useful to plug or cap the hole in the table. This patio umbrella parts page is about those caps, plugs, and rings used to cover the patio table hole. Here are some examples of patio table umbrella hole caps, plugs, or rings available online:

When selecting an item to cap the market umbrella hole in the table, its important to note the diameter of the hole in the table, and is also a good idea to determine if you need both the ring and the cap, or just the cap / plug part.

While often a new glass top table might come with a ring and cap, sometimes these original pieces can become discolored with exposure to sunlight, making it a good idea to replace the old item with a new ring and cap. It is a good idea to be sure to utilize a ring on glass tables to avoid having the market umbrella pole rub directly against the table glass.

Patio umbrella pulley

A patio umbrella pulley is a typical component of wood market umbrellas, and an important patio umbrella part. The rope goes around the pulleys, allowing the canopy to be easily opened by pulling down on the rope. This is easire than lifting the umbrella by hand, but with smaller patio umbrellas the hand method works fine too.

Most umbrellas count a pulley among their patio umbrella parts. When a pulley breaks, it is typically not easy to find the exact design or style of pulley online. Perhaps because umbrella pulleys don’t often break.

One option is to remove the pulley and find a close approximation to it at your local hardware store or online such as the examples shown below. Though finding a size, color, and material match for a wood pulley might not be easy. Something just close might have to due.

Replacement umbrella pole
| | | parts | Comments closed

The pole is a critical patio umbrella part as it holds the entire canopy up. It is most often made of wood, but metal is also fairly common. A pole should be long enough to hold the canopy well above people’s heads when they are standing. And it needs to be strong enough to withstand the substantial wind load placed upon the canopy. Finding a replacement umbrella pole can be difficult as the pole most often comes with the entire umbrella assembly. For an exact replacement often the only source is the manufacturer, or finding another one of the exact same umbrella type, perhaps at a garage sale.

Repairing important patio umbrella parts such as the pole is possible, but not recommended since the repair can degrade the umbrellas appearance and structural integrity. If the pole has snapped, it may be possible to slide on a larger diameter strong pipe section to cover and support the broken part of the pole. Then affix the repair in place with epoxy and/or screws. The repair would then need to be painted to match the rest of the pole. Unless the fit was perfect or lots of epoxy used, the pole may wobble somewhat. Strong two bolt long clamps (or one bolt types) such as those shown below are another possibility for a temporary pole repair until a new umbrella can be purchased, but again, are not recommended for this application.

So instead of repairing, getting a new market umbrella such as those listed on the other pages of this site or below is a much better option. Many of these may include free shipping and in recent years market umbrella prices have become quite reasonable on many of the styles.
